Every year, the Optimal Ways team takes part in a community action in aid of an association.

It’s essential for us to devote time to supporting high-impact projects as part of our CSR approach.

This year, we’re raising awareness among our team about the social and solidarity economy (SSE) at ReSport, a 100% solidarity-based sports recycling centre. Welcomed by Rémi Vandeweghe, we had the pleasure of working with their team for an afternoon of volunteering.

ReSport’s mission is to re-use second-hand sports and leisure goods to make sport more responsible and accessible, while promoting professional reintegration. Through its actions, it also raises public awareness of the many merits of the circular, social and solidarity economy.

Resport collects, recycles and redistributes bicycles in its solidarity shop, and also offers bicycle repair services.

The whole team took part in clearly defined tasks: checking the quality of equipment and sorting it into snowshoes, rollerblades and clothes; tidying and classifying shoes; reorganising the repair shelf; repairing bikes and organising tyres by size and format. This afternoon of community activity enabled ReSport to make progress on sorting equipment for repair and resale in the shop.

Since January 2022, the association has saved 24 tonnes of sports and leisure waste from destruction, 14 tonnes of which has found a second life. It has also enabled 7 people to be qualified and taken on via professional integration.

Resport is a perfect example of the social and solidarity-based circular economy!

Optimal Ways would like to extend its warmest thanks to the association for its hospitality, a real opportunity for sharing and openness that the team particularly appreciated.

We wish ReSport all the best for the future!
